Obituary of Barb Wesselius

Barbara Wesselius (Wolters) of St. Thomas, ON, wife to Ed Wesselius passed away with family by her side at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on January 8, 2022.  Barbara was born in Alberta on March 21, 1953 to the late Pieter and Annijie(DeKlerk) Wolters.  

Barb started her professional career in teaching before transitioning into the insurance industry.  She retired in 2020 to travel and spend additional time with family.  Barb spent several years volunteering at The Clothing Closet in Guelph, ON.  She was a very active participant in church from teaching Sunday School, organizing the weekly bulletin, Women’s Fellowship, and being an Elder.

Barb is the loving mother to Marianna McCue and son; Brandon (Jena) Wesselius. She is also the stepmother to Stacey, Heidi, and Renee. Her two granddaughters, Emelia and Sloan were the light of Barb’s life.  She also leaves behind her siblings; Rick (Sam), Nettie (Glen), Ben (Joy), sister-in-law Fran, Annie (Kevin), Sid (Melanie), Jennifer (Burt), and Sheryl.  As well, four step-grand-children, one great-grand-stepson, many nieces, nephews, and friends will mourn her passing.

Along with her parents, Barb is predeceased by her brothers Dirk and Peter.

At the family's request there will be no visitation.  The memorial service will be held at Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, 641 Elm St, St. Thomas on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 with Pastor Harold A. Winter officiating.  A reception will be held in the church at 12:00 noon followed by the memorial service at 1:00pm.  Interment will be in the spring at the Pickard-Merrithew Cemetery in Keswick, NB.
