Obituary of John William Gilhuis

GILHUIS, Mr. John William "Bill", went to be with his Lord and Saviour while surrounded by his loving family Saturday August 15, 2015. Beloved husband of Lena for 66 years. Father of Barb Moore and husband Terry, Mark and children , John and wife Leanne and children, Bill, wife Rosanna and children, David, Paul, wife Jennifer and children. Only child of the late Minne and Boukje Gilhuis and son in law of the late John and Hilda Luyt. Predeceased by granddaughter Sarah Gilhuis. Bill was a veteran of the second world war and served in the Air Force. He was a man of faith, member of the Gideons and will be remembered as a generous man with a witty sense of humour. The family will receive friends and relatives at BOWMAN FUNERAL HOME , 4 Victoria Ave (519-352-2390) on Monday August 17, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will take place Tuesday August 18, 2015 at 1:00 pm from Thames Christian Fellowship, 400 Park Ave East. Interment to follow in McVicar Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Gideons or Community Living Chatham Kent. Bill's family would like to thank the staff of Medicine B at CKHA and Bayshore Nursing and PSW caregivers for their wonderful service.
