Obituary of Wilbur Bertram Sexton
Wilbur (Bill) Bertram Sexton
Peacefully on Tuesday, July 28th, 2015 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Anne. Dear father of Patricia Wettlaufer (Doug), Penny Smith (Warren), Pam Graham (Dave) and Paul Sexton (Ann Cornish). Grandfather of Jason, Erin, Ryan, Travis, Aislynn, Andrea, Kelly and Karlie. Great-grandfather to Jeremiah, André and Cayden. Brother to Ken Sexton, the late Mildred Battman and twin brother to Joyce Black. Son-in-law to Kay Chartrand, brother-in-law to Kay Southcombe, Marie Bain, Eleanor Huysmans, Phillip Chartrand (Karen). Wilbur’s many nieces and nephews will also fondly remember their “Uncle Bill”.
Born on October 5, 1926 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Wilbur spent his formative years in Toronto. He spent many years later on in London and finally in Chatham at Riverview Gardens. Wilbur worked in the insurance industry. His love of music, particularly barbershop harmony, was his joy. He and his wife Anne shared their love of music and that remained an important part of his life until the very last moment. When attired as a clown in his ‘Weeping Willie’ outfit, Wilbur loved to entertain. Most of all, he had a wonderful sense of humour that he will long be remembered for. Wilbur was happiest when he was making others smile.
We would like to thank the staff of Riverview Gardens in Chatham for their compassionate care and kindness to Wilbur over the past ten years. You made us feel comfortable knowing that he was safe and well with you.
The celebration of life will be held at BOWMAN FUNERAL HOME, 4 Victoria Avenue, Chatham. (519-352-2390) on Saturday, August 1st at 11 a.m. Family will receive guests after the funeral service. Interment will take place in London.
