Obituary of Marshall Julien Mortier

MORTIER: Marshall Julien, passed away March 24, 2015. He was born in Chatham May 1, 1920, the third child to the late Martin Franciscus and Alice Gabrielle (Pattyn) Mortier. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Mona Addison (Barr). They met in London, England during WWII and together they travelled the world. Marshall proudly served 4 years overseas for his country with the Essex-Kent Regiment and the 85th Canadian Bridge Company. He was among those who participated in the D-Day landings at Juno Beach. He is survived by his sister-in-law Mary Ellen Mortier. Predeceased by his brothers Archie (Mary) and Albert and his sisters Marguerite (Joe) Van Praet and Martha (Sidney) Plumridge. Arrangements entrusted to Bowman Funeral Home, 4 Victoria Ave., Chatham, where a Legion Service will take place Thursday March 26, 2015 at 7:00pm, with visitation to follow from 7:00 to 9:00pm. There will be an hour of visitation from 12:00 -1:00 pm prior to the funeral service on Friday March 27, 2015 at 1:00pm in the funeral home. Interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Mr. Mortier are asked to consider the Chatham-Kent OSPCA.
