Obituary of John Scott Gardiner

Formerly of 22120 McLean Line, Aldborough Township, passed away at Bobier Villa, Dutton on September 14, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 91 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Evelyn (Wright) for over 69 years. Proud and loving father of 3 daughters Linda Mayhew (Allan) of Glencoe, Carol Gardiner (Michael Smith) of Wyoming and Irene Kriter (Kevin) of Rodney. Loving grandfather to Christopher (Jen) Mayhew, Craig (Jennifer) Mayhew, Michaela Smith (Eric Marr), Hillary (James) Callowhill, Kim Kriter and Erik Kriter. Great grandfather to Avery, Emma, Logan and Blake Mayhew. Survived by his sister, Florence Bodkin. Predeceased by his brother, Doug Gardiner. John was a “steward of the land”, farming his pioneer grandfather James Scott’s farm for over 65 years. He was a respected and valued neighbour and resident of his community. A long time member and elder of Kintyre Presbyterian Church, John more recently attended Calvary United Church, Rodney. His strength, courage and support will endure in our memories. Relatives and friends will be received at DENNING’S OF RODNEY, 212 Furnival Road, Rodney (519-785-0810) on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. where the Funeral Service will commence on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. Interment McLean Cemetery.
