Arlene, Nancy and family,
Tom was a big part of many people’s live and part of many of my childhood memories which included many laughs and music. I will always remember his smile and the twinkle in his eyes. He had a generous heart, kind disposition and was one of the strongest people I have been blessed to know. I had great respect for Tom. I haven’t seen Tom for many years but when I saw the picture you shared he hadn’t changed a bit. I was disappointed to miss him when he came to see me but it was nice to hear from Bill and Larry, he was still the same Tom, full of good times.
I hope the many memories you have will bring you comfort.
My deepest condolences for your loss. We were all blessed to have him touch our hearts.

It was truly a pleasure to work with Tom at numerous fire scenes with K9 Smoke. We always met at Husky's before hitting the road and he knew the best places for a fish lunch. Whenever he would call it wasn't just Tom calling, it was "old Tom". I'll never forget our fishing trip to Lake Temagami. It was an eyeopener on ice fishing. He was a great guy and we will miss him.

Everyone who met Tom always remembered his friendly smile and casual conversation usually through one of his stories ! As a younger insurance adjuster I was commandeered as "the shovel guy" to help Tom dig through the remains of many a fire scene . While we worked hand in hand he imparted his vast knowledge of fire investigation - usually with another story . Tom could learn more from a seemingly casual conversation than most through an interrogation. I always looked forward to the next time we would work together . Of course there was always the mandatory breakfast or lunch debriefing. I missed him after his retirement from Origin and Case Inc. The day of his passing I called his cell unknowing and left a message how good it was to hear his voice again and asked him to call . I am sure your family can take solace he is not in discomfort anymore. Keep smilin Tommy !

Nancy, Jess & Chrissy - so very sorry for your loss. Tom had a ready smile and I enjoyed his wit in the ‘red neck lounge’ even though it made my eyes roll at times. He was kind to me at a time he could have chosen differently and I’ll always remember him fondly for that.

To Nancy and Toms Girls, who he loved so much,
Thank you so much with sharing your Tom with the rest of us. I got so lucky to get to have an annual fishing trip (one of which I made poor Tom lug up a stove top from London for me) with my Dad and my uncles, Tom was just as much family to us as the rest of the boys. He would share stories about my family that I had never heard and meant so much to me. We would talk everything from poker and fishing to fire investigations, which helped me understand more about my career then I have ever read in any book.
Every year he was the highlight on my Trip. Uncle Tom Mac will be dearly missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him, and I'm so glad to be part of that group.

Tom was a good friend and a great client. He was always ready with a smile and laugh. I remember him telling me about his hearing failing in his left ear from driving an OPP cruiser with the window open for so many years because the government was too cheap to put air conditioning in the cruisers. He always had a smoky aroma about him like a pleasant campfire from his dealing with fire investigations with Origin and Cause.
Sincere condolences to Nancy, Jessica and Christine. Tom will be missed at the Brady household. We have made a donation in his honour to the Childrens Hospital.

We all remember when Tom arrived in Moose Factory. He was quick with a joke and a smile and fit so easily into life there.
Tom was respected by the local Cree population, largely because he learned the language within his first year, something sadly that most of us did not do.
Our group of northern nursing friends has kept in touch for all these years and Tom's name has often surfaced. It will continue to do so as we remember good people and good times.
He was one of the best.

To Tom’s Family,
We fondly remember Tom from our time in Moose Factory. His infectious grin and ability to see the light side made him fun to be around. Tom would often pop by for a coffee or a chat and his presence brightened the day.
He was especially well respected as an OPP officer and everyone knew they were in good hands if Tom was watching out for you.
We will drink a toast to him and share our fond memories between us. He is gone but not forgotten, a wonderful friend and we were fortunate to know him. Sincerely, Hilda Power & Jeff Scott

Condolences to you, Nancy, and the girls. Many memories of “Mac”. My earliest is from the 80’s when I was a young boy and he’d stay at my folks house in Sault Ste Marie. Tom would land at our kitchen table after an 8 hour drive from TBay, I think... after quick handshakes and hugs, a poker game would break out with my dad George and my uncles Tom, Larry, Bill and some others. I’d be my dad’s “banker” as they played but I’d go to bed before midnight. Waking up the next morning to head to the kitchen for breakfast and the guys would STILL be awake playing. True friends for sure. Mac definitely had a knack for making whomever he talked to feel like the most important person in the room at that moment. He truly cared about his family and friends. I did get to go on one of the infamous old guys fishing trips in the summer of 2018. The only 44 year old with a bunch of senior citizen fishermen. Learned a lot that week including how they could rock a crossword puzzle together like no others and go to bed before 9pm. We will miss Mac. Myself, my dad George, my mom Pat, and my brother Greg whom may have greeted Tom at the Pearly Gates. Tom was a man of integrity, strength, love and was always fun to be around. One of the best ever. Until we meet again...

Nancy and girls;
I was so saddened by the news of Tom's passing! He was an icon on the OPP and the OFM and the greatest friend I ever had! I can't even begin to imagine the loss you feel, as I know how much Nancy and you two girls meant to him! You were his world, his greatest pride, and his grounding. Tom and I were very close and he has shared many personal feelings with me over the years. You three made Tom the amazing man he was! I watched the progression of him from the time he and Nancy met and then the spike in his happiness when you two girls were born! "Ohh and Aah!" That was his pet names for you two. I just wish we had lived closer so I could have spent time with all of you after you left Thunder Bay.
We are in lockdown here until next Monday at least, so I will be unable to attend the service. Again, my sincere condolences in the loss of the wonderful husband and father you had.

Thank you for making him so happy, and thank you for sharing him with us for all these years.

To Nancy, family and friends:
Knowing Tom since I was a teenager, I looked up to him as he seemed to be someone who would never let you down. He stood tall and was strong in body and soul. He was a survivor. He was a protector. He was humble. He like to fish but most of all he was a family man. He would share his knowledge like how to waterski, or clean a pike or what have you. I cherished the gleam in his eye when we would pick up the musical instuments and play some tunes. You could tell by the look on his face he so enjoyed it. The annual Pateman fishing weekend will sure miss your presence. We'll play a hand in your honour next fishing trip.
Rest in peace Tom.
