Obituary of Thomas Andrew MacIntyre
It is with great grief and much sadness that we announce the death of Thomas Andrew MacIntyre (76) of St. Thomas, ON. After a decades-long fight against chronic illness, Tom passed away at home, peacefully in his sleep, on March 3, 2021. Predeceased by wife Bonnie (née MacLean), and sons Sean and Shanyn. He is survived and will be dearly missed by wife Nancy (née Porter) of 35 years, daughters Jessica and Christine, son-in-law Avery, sister Arlene, friend and neighbour Jay Connor, as well as countless friends with whom he maintained close connections throughout his life.
An avid outdoorsman and veteran OPP officer, deeply respected for his strength of character, kindness and loyalty to those whom he loved, and always as funny as he was whip-smart, Tom lived a full and storied life. Born in May 1944 to Arnett and Millie MacIntyre in Toronto, Tom spent the majority of his childhood and youth playing hockey and working on the family farm outside of Frankford.
Tom served as an OPP officer in several jurisdictions throughout Ontario, including Thessalon and Moose Factory, and in 1985 was recruited to the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office. He continued to work as a fire investigator in both the northern and southwestern regions of Ontario until retiring in 1995. To keep busy and social during retirement, he worked part-time as a fire investigator for Origin and Cause.
Every summer for over thirty years, Tom and his best friends would travel to Lac Seul for an annual houseboat fishing trip. Those closest to Tom will always remember his love of wood fires, the wealth of knowledge and experience he carried, his infectious smile and his endless humour.
