We are so sorry for your loss. We didn't know Don except through stories from his sister Helen (our treasured family friend for many decades), but we know that he was just like the rest of the Macphee family, warm, generous, caring, down to earth, tell it like it is and really funny. One thing I know is that no member of this family ever wondered whether they were loved and appreciated - they all knew it always - so there are no regrets. What a wonderful legacy.

I had the privilege of working with Don for many years at GM/GD, always a gentleman and very even keeled. He was an excellent inspector and mentor to many people. Taught me a lot and am forever grateful. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

Don was to begin with a wonderful down to earth great guy. I used to giggle when he was always so serious about things even when I was trying to make a joke. The way he loved his family put him on a pedestal to me. The sun rose and shone on Louise and he loved her with all his heart. There was always a big smile on his face when we were at the Eagle Estate when his family was there with him. He was so proud of his boys. He had the patience of a saint. My children and I admired the man he was and he will be terribly missed when we come out to the Eagle Estate for our visits. Lots of love to you my dear friends and I sincerely hope Danny and Don are having a drink together in heaven. xxx

The picture of Donald in his Maple Leaf Jersey with his smiling face is my only brother. He loved his sports teams to think that he will not he in his chair watching them play anymore. His wife sons and their wives and his beloved grandchildren have suffered a great loss. We are better people for having knowing him and having him in our lives.

Louise I want you to know that I am sorry for your loss. My brother just forwarded the obituary to me. I remember Donnie when we went to Sir Winston Churchill public school. I will always remember your sayings, your smile, your love of ice cream cones and HP sauce. Thank you for all the times hanging out in the garage. Thank you for introducing me to turnips. Thank you for believing in me and my career, and for making the trek to see theatre I made, even when Donnie wasn't involved. Thank you for your patience with Malik and for spending hours shooting tennis balls in the backyard for her with your hockey stick. Thanks for not getting mad when I sneakily finished your crosswords without asking. I am so thankful you were able to be such an important part of our wedding ceremony last November, pinning the tartan to officially welcome me into the Macphee clan - I will forever be proud to be part of it. Thank you for wearing a kilt - it meant the world to Donnie. And you looked great! I love you Don. Thank you for raising a wonderful son who is as special as you, and for letting me love him. Thank you for making me a part of your family. I will miss you so, so much, forever.
