Just hearing about this now. I remember Jim when he was an announcer for CFCO back in the late 80's and he would come in to the Capitol Theatre where I was a doorman and usher to watch movies. We got to know each other quite well and I remember him telling me stories of when he was a DJ in Toronto. He was definitely someone I looked up to and it is a shame he is no longer with us. May you rest in peace Jim Woods!!

My mother told me of Mr. Woods passing tonight and I wanted to share some memories and leave my condolences for his family.
Mr. Woods was my grade 4 teacher at Zone Central Public School in Bothwell back in 1993. Even after 25 years, I remembered exactly who it was my mom was speaking of and I could immediately remember clearly what he looked like.
I can truly say Mr. Woods was one of my favorite teachers. My fondest memory was in gym class when we would get to play soccer and he would run through all us kids with the ball and at the last second, pass the ball and let us score the goal. Everyone wanted Mr. Woods on their team and everyone wanted to be just like him when we grew up.
Another fond memory was in science class. We would go out to the wood lot and look for bugs and insects. I remember Mr. Woods being very passionate about the outdoors. He would have taught us about nature all day if he could.
It's remarkable how much we can remember from being so young when someone has made such a strong impact on us.
Thank you and may you Rest in Peace Mr. Woods.

I thought of James this morning...not knowing of his battle with cancer..I smiled ️thinking of the fun memories we had years back as friends..this is touching as his spirit must've reached out. James you were always a good guy, fun times at the beach and volleyball, you lived your life to the fullest!! . To his loving family I am sorry as I can very much relate to your loss of a loved one to cancer. I met James around 1995. I'm sure he is planting flowers and trimming the trees in heaven. ;-)

To the entire Woods Family my sincere condolences. I grew up with Jim in Blenheim, playing a lot at his house and neighbourhood. Jim and I were in many classes at Talbot Street Public School and W.J. Baird Public School in Blenheim. He was a very creative person. I knew Jim as a teacher when I was a School Board Trustee in the 90's. He was enthusiastic in his teaching of environmental studies to the students. Even though we never stayed in touch much after that time, I often think about the times that were had by the group of us in our growing up years. Thinking about your crazy antics Jim. RIP.

My condolences to the family of James (Mr. Woods). I had the pleasure of being in Mr. Woods class as a supply EA in the past. He will be truly missed. I really looked forward to working with him, although it was on brief occasions. He treated his students, as well as myself, with the utmost respect. He truly had a "Heart of Gold". You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

Jimmy will no longer be back after time, temp and Station (CFCO) I.D. For years I worked in Maclean Hunter's huge CFCO Radio Station. Jim was the jock (announcer) and did his show from the central control room. Next door in the Newsroom, collecting teletype stories off the wire and then writing wrap around news stories was "this ink-stained wretch." After the big eight o'clock Saturday morning news, I would wrap up the cast with one of my weird stories I had picked up from around the world. In a trumpian move, Woodsie every Saturday, accused me of creating & reading fake news stories! On another front, Jim who had a B.A.,even way back in the mid 70's, decided to go back to the University of Windsor to get another degree, a Bachelor of Education. I also had obtained my B.A., but Jim convinced me to get another one, a B,Ed. Quite quickly, it seemed, we were both teaching, Jim in Kent, and me in Bobcaygeon.
Do you see the trend, folks? Jim cared about folks, and was always ready to persuade a co-worker to stretch the parochial, journalism boundaries! A good man, and a great radio jock and outdoors enthusiast. Jim Woods-dead! Can't be, he was so young, so alive! That's -30- Woodsie, you were a good one. Ron Crowley

Mr Woods was our neighbour on Cornhill street when I was a kid. I was born there and lived there until I was 6. I never had any friends my age that lived on my street so Mr Woods became my friend. He took my training wheels off my bike when my dad thought I wasn't ready but I was. He always believed in me. I thought it was so cool when he bought a new couch and had to haul it up to the second floor though a window. He would sun tan in the back yard while I ran around asking him dumb questions but he never seemed bothered. I thought Mr Woods was larger than life. He will be missed.
